1961 Plymouth Fury Auto Repair and the loose clamp in Denver

Last week we received a call about a 1961 Plymouth Fury that was overheating and in need of service. The owner stated the vehicle had only 38,000 original miles and had not experienced any major issues. When the vehicle arrived on a tow truck, we popped the hood and immediately noticed a brand new radiator, water pump, and thermostat housing, along with several new hoses. After pressuring up the cooling system to find the leak we determined just one loose hose clamp was the cause of the problem.

The owner, had already left, was getting ready to board a flight out of state, and was trying to ensure his vehicle would be alright in our storage for a few weeks. We called 15 minutes after he left, told him to turn around and come get it. As the owner arrived we pulled the vehicle out for him, showed him the clamp that needed some minor adjustment, and politely told him to carry on his day. The owner shook my hand, said in the 30 years of ownership he had never experienced someone taking such care to make sure it was dealt with properly, efficiently, and at no cost to him. After all, we simply tightened a clamp. One happy owner.

Here is a fun fact about this car… It has been driven so little, this is the actual oil change sign. Note the year says 1966!
